The 2018 International Chess Tournament is expected to be held in Metro Manila from October 22 to 30.
Last year, the event was held at the Osbron Hall of Ikthus Equipping Center in Bacolod City; organizers say the move was necessary due to budget considerations.
Known as the Negros International Open Chess Championship in 2017, the competition was won by Grand Master Nigel Short of England and featured other international grand masters, including Karen Grigoryan of Armenia; Srinath Narayanan of India; and Duc Hoa Nguyen and Tuan Minh Tran, both of Vietnam
Filipino Grand Masters Rogelio Antonio, Jr. and Darwin Laylo also competed in the tournament./JSG, WDJ
