The Iloilo City government, in partnership with the Department of Education Division of Iloilo City (DepEd-Iloilo City), held the Kahublagan sa Barangay para sa Lapnagon nga Kahandaan (Kabalaka) Education Storytelling and Jazz Chant Competition at the Iloilo City Diamond Jubilee Hall last week.
Faith Jarie Villarin of E. Yusay Memorial Elementary School won the storytelling competition in the teacher’s category; while John Alexander Lava of Iloilo Central Elementary School won the children’s category.
Meanwhile, Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School captured the title in the jazz chant competition.
“We came up with different advocacy projects to help the public increase their awareness and knowledge on disasters,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III. “Children must also be warned about disasters that might happen.”
“This only shows how Iloilo City gives importance to disaster preparedness,” he added./WDJ
