Effective last Monday, January 1, Fire Chief Inspector Pobleo Ploteña was appointed the new Bureau of Fire Protection-Bacolod City (BFP-Bacolod) fire marshall, replacing Fire Superintendent Rodolfo Denaga, who was designated BFP-Negros Occidental provincial fire marshall.
Ploteña previously served as operations chief for the defunct BFP-Negros Island Region (NIR).
During a courtesy call to Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) yesterday, he emphasized the need for more firetrucks and substations in the city.
“We need [more] firetrucks and substations in Mansilingan, Handumanan, and Bata,” Ploteña said, calling them “strategic areas.”
He noted, Bacolod City currently has six fire substations and one central station./NC, WDJ
