In Bacolod City, travelers are calling the attention of city officials who have noticed, while the Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corporation, chaired by Christopher S. Pastrana, has provided clean and professional FastCat Roll-On/Roll-Off (RoRo) vessels to ply the Bacolod-Iloilo route, it is shameful when tourists arrive to see dilapidated and likely-unlicensed tricycles greeting them at the Banago Port.
Even worse, these tricycle drivers try to shoo taxi drivers.
Can city officials work on this? City Councilors Dindo Ramos? Em Ang? These tricycle operators do not hold exclusive rights to transporting tourists.

This year, the Department of Tourism-Region VI (DOT-6) is encouraging establishments to improve their toilets, in accordance with the Clean Toilet Western Visayas campaign – an issue earlier mentioned in a July 2016 WatchMe column and brought up in several subsequent write-ups, with the most recent mention early last month.

Spending Christmas in Iloilo, I stayed at the Go Hotel and the Sports Front Hotel. Iloilo is a bustling business and leisure destination, where jeepney and taxi drivers are disciplined.
In terms of road development, Iloilo City is ahead of Bacolod City tenfold. Vehicular traffic is also high, with a terrible road traffic load, but it is bearable. Bacolod, meanwhile, has poor traffic system management. This is not a criticism, I’m just telling the true scenario.
On December 13th, I prepared loaves of bread to distribute to traffic enforcers and, to my shock, I only spotted one working the main thoroughfares.
Bacolod City motorists are clamoring for road rehabilitation, including Bakyas Road, Hernaez Road, Magsaysay Road, Lizares Street at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, the Libertad Market Road, Rosario-San Juan Streets, Dawis Road, among others.

Social media is not criticism, it is doing its role in helping and guiding local leadership. It is not bashing, it is only telling the truth – nothing more.

Last year was a blessed one – and a healthy one, as well. Those experiencing the pains of arthritis of gout have no choice but to eat healthier food, not nice food anymore. Beef, beans, and innards, along with dishes like cansi and pata are nice food, but are they good for health? Even fish without scales can spark gout symptoms.
My brother has experienced arthritic pain for decades, but was able to overcome the discomfort through self-discipline when it comes to “nice foods.”
