Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III ordered maximum police visibility throughout the city amid the upcoming New Year celebrations.

“Our police officers must be more vigilant in preventing any crime and in maintaining peace and order,” he said. “We need to make sure, while celebrating New Year, we are safe and secure.”

Earlier this month, following the shooting of 24-year-old Rey Myr Tan, Espinosa ordered enhanced police visibility at nightlife hotspot, the Smallville Complex, located in the city’s Mandurriao district.

In addition, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) operations chief, Police Superintendent Jowel Saliba, earlier credited the continued decline in the city’s crime rate to police visibility and curfew implementation./PLL, WDJ
