A resident of Barangay 29 was apprehended last week by members of an anti-illegal dumping and anti-littering task force after being caught dumping garbage near SK Plaza Divisoria, located along Luzuriaga Street.

The offender was brought to Police Station 1 for violating RA 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran called it a “warning” to city residents, citing it as evidence the city government takes RA 9003 seriously.

During the recent City Development Council Christmas party, the vice mayor appealed to barangay captains to cooperate in the implementation of the “No Segregation, No Collection” policy./WDJ
