According to Malay Town Councilor Nenette Aguirre-Graf, 1,200 people are stranded on the resort island of Boracay, where 90 percent of the tourist locale is flooded due to Tropical Storm Urduja.
Another 872 are stuck in Malay as of yesterday.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has yet to lift their suspension on sea travel in Aklan because of the storm. In addition, flights out of Caticlan Airport are canceled, with Pia Miraflores of the Boracay Foundation, Inc. reporting flooding at the terminal.
The Office of Civil Defense-Region VI has also reported flooding throughout Capiz.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region VI distributed food to passengers stranded at various ports./WDJ
