Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, recently revealed the most wanted criminal in Region VI, Antonio ‘Anton’ Aquino of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, was arrested in Marikina City last week.

Aquino is wanted for the 2002 murder of Bonifacio Merindad from Santa Barbara, Iloilo, which he admitted to over the weekend after being captured.

Tayaba credited a P300,000 reward for his capture, which utilized forces from the IPPO, the Police Regional Office Regional Intelligence Division, the Manila Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and the Marikina City Police Station.

Aquino was apprehended while working as a janitor for a bingo operator, where he applied for the job using fraudulent National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearances.

The suspect was previously jailed following a 1989 homicide case in Bacolod City.

He has also been linked to other murders and robberies throughout Panay, Guimaras, and Negros, which Aquino denies./WDJ
