The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) yesterday warned the public regarding the spread of ‘fake’ peso bills, following a recent incident in Metro Manila that went viral on social media.
BCPO spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, said the proliferation of fake bills has become prevalent due to the holiday season as the public is engaged in Christmas shopping.
Vargas advised those paid with fake peso bills to immediately report the incident to the nearest police station.
She stated, filing a blotter is important, especially if the suspect is arrested; the victim will be contacted to identify the individual and file charges.
Vargas advised both consumers and businessmen to check monetary bills received before accepting.
She added, fake bills are usually made of ordinary paper and lacks security strips./DGB, WDJ
