Bacolod City won four awards, taking first place in one category, at the 1st Regional Development Council-Region VI (RDC-6) Recognition Ceremony for Competitive LGUs (Local Government Units), which took place earlier this week at the Iloilo Grand Hotel.
The city came in first place in resiliency and was named the second more competitive city in the region, behind Kabankalan City.
Bacolod City also took third for economic dynamism and infrastructure.
“These awards are very inspiring,” said Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who was represented by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran at the event. “This will surely encourage us to strive more for excellence.”
Meanwhile, in the provincial category, Negros Occidental took third in the overall competitiveness index.
According to RDC-6 chair, Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao, the awards were based on LGUs that topped the CY 2017 Cities and Municipalities Index Survey, which is conducted by the National Competitiveness Council./WDJ
