Department of Health-Region VI (DOH-6) Family, Health and Nutrition cluster head, Dr. Renelyn Reyes, said officials from Sanofi Pasteur, manufacturers of the controversial dengvaxia dengue vaccine, will be in Iloilo City next week, where they will meet with pediatricians from across the region.
She noted, while Region 6 was not part of the national pilot program, some children were treated with the vaccine by private doctors.
Meanwhile, reports claim a partylist group offered the vaccine to communities across Iloilo, however, this has yet to be confirmed by DOH-6.
Dengvaxia, which had been administered to school children throughout Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon, identified as “highly-endemic areas,” or areas with the highest number of dengue cases, has since been revealed to potentially cause more severe dengue symptoms./WDJ
