Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the decision on extending Martial Law in Mindanao is up to Congress to decide.
“I would leave it to them to decide,” he said. “They have the wisdom.”
The mayor also asserted congressional representatives act in the best interest of the people.
Earlier, House Majority Leader, Ilocos Norte first district Rep. Rodolfo Fariñas, said President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to formally request Congress to extend Martial Law in Mindanao for a second time.
The extension was recommended by the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, due to ongoing volatility from Islamic terror groups and the New People’s Army (NPA), which was also recently declared a terror organization./DGB, WDJ
