Four men were arrested after running from a police checkpoint at Sitio Buri in Barangay 4, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, Thursday evening.
Kabankalan City police said, while conducting a checkpoint, they spotted a male operating a motorcycle with three unidentified passengers.
Upon approaching the checkpoint, the driver of the motorcycle immediately turned and avoided the officers.
Police managed to capture the suspects and recovered a loaded Taurus caliber .45 firearm, one caliber .45 magazine, and six live units of ammunitions from one of the suspects, identified as Wendel Morales.
Another suspect, Ronie Dela Cruz, yielded a caliber .38 revolver with four live units of ammunition.
Both suspects failed to present documentation proving legal possession for the said firearms.
The two face charges of resistance and disobedience to a person in authority and in violation of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Meanwhile, the other two, identified as Ariel Revira and Joelito Medez, were also brought to the custodial facility of the Kabankalan City Police Station./NC, WDJ
