Former Bacolod City Barangay 35 Captain Manuel ‘Maui’ Huelar released a second affidavit yesterday, where he insisted former Negros Occidental fourth district Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer is involved in illegal drug activities.
The 2016 candidate for Negros Occidental vice governor laughed off the latest allegations, calling them “preposterous” in a phone interview with Watchmen Daily Journal.
He noted, a perjury and libel case were recently filed following the first affidavit and the new developments may result in another libel charge.
According to the new legal documentation, Huelar claimed to have received a phone call from a “well-known” drug personality based in La Carlota City saying Ferrer offered to help in his case as long as the individual recanted claims made in the first affidavit that suggested Ferrer and his wife, former La Carlota City Mayor and incumbent fourth district Rep. Juliet Ferrer, failed to stop illegal drugs in the city.
Huelar also claimed Ferrer coddled former La Carlota City Police Station officer-in-charge, Police Superintendent Orly Gabinete; and former Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent William Señoron. Both were accused of being drug protectors.
In response to the charges, the embattled former barangay official said they will not deter him from revealing the names of “narco-politicians” and “police scalawags.”
Other individuals named in the second affidavit will not be revealed pending reaction to the new allegations./DGB, WDJ
