The Department of Health-Region VI (DOH-6) said they will be closely monitoring minors who were treated with dengvaxia, the anti-dengue vaccination under fire after pharmaceutical manufacturer Sanofi said their product may lead to more severe symptoms.
DOH-6 family, health, and nutrition cluster head, Dr. Reynilyn Reyes, reiterated an earlier comment by Bacolod City Health Office Environmental Sanitation Division head, Dr. Grace Tan, saying Region 6 was not among the regions that served as pilot areas for the immunization program.
She, however, stated, as part of monitoring purposes, they will note if a patient received the said vaccination, which were only distributed to “highly-endemic areas,” or areas with the highest number of dengue cases throughout the country, which included Regions 3, 4-A, and the National Capital Region (NCR)./DGB, WDJ
