A memorandum was recently signed between Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) and two groups, Task Force Crusaders for Democracy, Inc. and Hugpong Federal Movement of the Philippines, Inc., agreeing to coordinate in regards to the ongoing anti-criminality campaign in the region.
According to PRO-6 spokesperson, Police Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, the two groups will be considered civilians and are expected to provide “support through information.”
“This is more of a community partnership,” he explained. “They will provide us [with] information and continuously monitor any acts of criminality, terrorism, lawlessness, and violations on illegal gambling and loose firearms.”
Gorero went on to say the information they provide will “create a sustainable and developed community.”
The PRO-6 official also emphasized that members of the organizations do not have the authority to conduct police operations.
Back in July of this year, PRO-6 arrested 12 TFC members after they attempted to conduct police operations in Jordan, Guimaras.
The suspects, who were armed with knives and firearms, claimed they were on a mission on behalf of the Office of the Solicitor General.
Gorero, at the time, noted, “They are only supposed to give the PNP (Philippine National Police) information about the illegal drug trade, illegal gambling, and corruption.”/PLL, WDJ
