Local firecracker producers organization, the Hinigaran Firecracker and Pyrotechnic Manufacturers Dealers and Retailers Association, Inc., recently expressed concerns over the reported smuggling of pyrotechnics into the country from China.

Association President Navarro Baylon, Jr. said the entry of the said products could negatively affect their business.

He also noted, the Chinese-made products are “more attractive,” but claimed they are more dangerous.

The group is calling for the government to crackdown on the smuggling.

Meanwhile, Baylon projected the price of firecrackers will be going up over the coming weeks, noting manufacturing materials are becoming more expensive./DGB, WDJ
