The most recent Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) data revealed the city’s crime rate continues to decline, a trend ICPO operations chief, Police Superintendent Jowel Saliba, credits to police visibility and curfew implementation.
“If you notice an unusual person [committing] suspicious acts in your barangay, report it immediately to the police,” the ICPO official suggested. “We also ask parents not to allow their children to go out from their house beyond the curfew hour.”
Based on data gathered between November 24 and 30 this year, the police office recorded a total 45 criminal incidents, a drop from 95 recorded in a similar period last year. The drop constitutes a 52 percent decline.
In a prior report, the ICPO noted 39 criminal incidents between November 10 and 16, a drop from 98 incidents recorded between November 11 and 17 in the previous year, constituting a decline of just over 60 percent. The preceding report, based on data from November 3 to 9, saw a 55 percent drop./PLL, WDJ
