A former police officer was arrested by San Carlos City police after a warrant was issued against him on drug and gun-related charges at San Juan Bonifacio in Barangay 5, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, late Monday evening.
Police identified the suspect as 51-year-old Remus Bayawa, a resident of the said barangay.
In a statement released by Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) spokesperson, Police Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, Bayawa is facing charges in violation of Sections 11 and 12 of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002; along with Section 28(a) of Article V of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Explosives Regulation Act.
He added, Bayawa’s bail was set at P240,000 for the drug charges and P100,000 for the gun charges.
Bayawa is presently detained at the San Carlos City Police Station./DGB, WDJ
