Kabankalan City OMB raid yields P13.5M worth of pirated CDs, DVDs

An estimated P13,580,000 worth of pirated CDs and DVDs were confiscated after the Optical
Media Board (OMB) and Kabankalan City police conducted a late Friday afternoon raid at the
Kabankalan City Public Market, located in Barangay 1, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
According to OMB Enforcement and Investigation Division head Maricel Areglo, the operation,
which was carried out around 5:00 p.m., raided eight stalls.
Of the eight stall owners, three refused to sign receipts of confiscation, while one eluded police
and OMB operatives.
The four who signed the receipts were identified as Jalil Sota, Lailayis Mangondaya, Mahak
Batimaio, and JR Mangol Macodato.
In all, authorities seized a total 97 sacks of pirated CDs and DVDs, with all items now in the
custody of the OMB.
The four stall owners who signed the confiscation receipts face charges in violation of the
Optical Media Act of 2003./DGB, WDJ
