During their regular session yesterday, the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed a resolution urging city residents to practice an environmentally-friendly Christmas, claiming failure to do so would “wreak havoc” on the environment.
The resolution, penned by City Councilor Em Ang, proposed locals exchange “eco-friendly Christmas gifts,” re-use or recycle wrapping paper, use homemade Christmas decorations, among other suggestions.
The policy also recommends holding events to promote environmental causes during holiday celebrations.
In addition, with Christmas serving as the celebration of the birth of Christ for Christian communities, the resolution also notes, “The best way to show this gratitude is by being responsible stewards of His creation.”/PLL, WDJ
