After the Department of Tourism-Region VI (DOT-6) launched their Bring Home a Friend (BHAF) program last week in Iloilo City, as part of their Month of Overseas Filipinos and International Migrants Day observances, the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed a resolution during their regular session yesterday adopting the same program.
BHAF focuses on encouraging Filipinos, both in the Philippines and abroad, to promote Philippine tourism by inviting foreign friends to visit the country.
According to the resolution, authored by City Councilor Em Ang, the program is necessary, characterizing Bacolod City as “an emerging tourist destination.”
The policy noted, such a program would boost visitor arrivals, and generate jobs and income.
In Iloilo City, the program is offering the chance to win a condominium unit, a new car, or a P200,000 Duty Free Philippines gift certificate; along with an array of vacation packages.
Eligible participants are required to invite or sponsor anyone holding a foreign passport, or dual citizenship, living abroad for a minimum of six months prior to the event, and have been in the country during that period of time to be entered into the draw for prizes./PLL, WDJ
