Members of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) carried out a surprise shakedown, or ‘greyhound’ operation, at the Bago City District Jail, early yesterday morning.
Jail Officer 2 (JO2) Rey Umadhay said the operation was a success, as they found no drugs in the prison cells.
However, they did find several contraband items, such as metal fragments, steel spoons, bamboo sticks, and several prison shanks.
Among the items also seized were mobile phones, electronic gadgets, and chargers.
Umadhay added, Bago City police officers also participated in the shakedown. He thanked them for their support in carrying out the operation peacefully./DGB, WDJ
