A 59-year-old man was rushed to the hospital late Monday evening after his neck was slashed in Barangay Patun-an, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the victim as Rodrigo Alburoto.

Calatrava municipal police chief, Police Chief Inspector John Joel Batusbatusan, said Alburoto was inside his home watching the television, when the suspect, 52-year-old Warlito Saad, entered the house and slashed the victim in the neck.

Alburoto, however, managed to get away from the suspect and immediately sought medical attention at the town’s district hospital.

Batusbatusan noted, Saad has a history of violent tendencies when he is drunk and he was immediately arrested following the incident.

Saad may face assault charges and is presently detained at the Calatrava Municipal Police Station./DGB, WDJ
