Former Negros Occidental Vice Governor Emilio Yulo III yesterday took an oath of office to serve as Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) sugar board director, where he will represent planters.
In an interview yesterday, after taking his oath before Department of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, Yulo said he immediately attended a hearing regarding excise taxes on sugar-sweetened beverages.
The newly-appointed official said he would be attending the SRA regular board meeting next Thursday, where they plan to discuss the continuing drop in mill gate prices for sugar.
He also assured local sugar planters they would investigate why the price of sugar dropped drastically in the past few weeks.
Piñol earlier announced Yulo’s appointment during the 11th National Shrimp Congress, which was held in Bacolod City earlier this month./DGB, WDJ
