Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) appointed a new Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director over the weekend, formally replacing Police Superintendent Roderick Minong.
BCPO spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, said Police Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo was named the new director on Saturday.
Vargas did not specify when Ebreo’s appointment was signed by PRO-6 director, Police Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, but noted Ebreo previously led the Regional Intelligence and Detection Management Division-Region VI (RIDMD-6).
Ebreo is known for being one of the top police officials who led last year’s manhunt operation against Ronnie Dayan, the alleged drug bagman and former bodyguard to Senator Leila de Lima.
She added, Minong was earlier re-appointed as commander of the Regional Public Safety Battalion-Region VI (RPSB-6), which is based at Camp Aniceto Lacson in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
Minong was appointed by Binag back in October, after Police Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky was relieved from his post following the rising number of theft and robbery incidents in Bacolod City.
Minong’s appointment was meant to be temporary as the BCPO is supposed to be led by a police senior superintendent, as required for a highly-urbanized city./DGB, WDJ
