The Iloilo City Tourism and Development Office (CTDO) will be holding the first Giant Lantern Festival next month, scheduled to run from December 8 until January 6.

The entries will be on display along Muelle Loney Street, with the winners to be announced on December 15, during the City Hall Christmas Party at Plaza Libertad, with first place winning P50,000, second place taking home P40,000, and third place being awarded P30,000.

Seven consolation prizes of P5,000 will also be awarded.

One entry is allowed per barangay and lanterns must be six feet in height and width.

The final product must be made of recycled and indigenous materials and able to withstand open weather. The use of candles is prohibited, but paint and electric bulbs are encouraged./WDJ
