Escalante City-native to lead the Philippine contingent

ASEAN Age Group Open Chess Championships 2017

Dwyane Ermeo Pahaganas of Escalante City, a 10-year-old student of Escalante Central Elementary School, will lead the Philippine contingent at the ASEAN Age Group Open Chess Championships 2017, which begins today, November 25, at the Grand Darul Makmur Hotel in Kuantan, Malaysia.

He previously won two silver medals and a bronze in the same competition two year ago, when it was held in Singapore.

Pahaganas also took home silver in the boys 10-and-under division of this year’s National Age Group Chess Championships.

Also competing for the Philippine team are Al-Basher Buto, Antonella Berthe Murillo Racasa, Daren dela Cruz, Queenie Mae Samarita, Cedric Kahlel Abris, Jirah Floravie Cutiyog, Brylle Gever Vinluan, Mecel Angela Gadut, Justine Diego Mordido, and Mark Jay Bacojo./JSG, WDJ
