Two suspected snatchers were arrested by members of Police Station 4 (PS4) after the global positioning system (GPS) on the phone they stole provided their location, allowing authorities to capture them at Purok Mahimaya-on, Barangay Bata, Bacolod City, yesterday morning.
Police identified the suspects as 21-year-old Danilo Vergara and 29-year-old Brenan Perez, both residents of the said purok.
Cops from PS4 said, late Thursday evening, the victim, identified as 22-year-old EG Marie Rectra, was walking at Burgos-Hilado Streets when Vergara and Perez allegedly snatched her mobile phone.
Rectra visited PS4 to report the incident and accessed the phone’s GPS system to pinpoint the suspects’ location.
Once the location was found, members of PS4 conducted a follow-up operation early Friday morning, resulting in the suspects’ arrest.
Police recovered the stolen phone, as well as the motorcycle used by the suspects to commit the crime.
Both Vergara and Perez are facing theft charges and are presently detained at PS4./DGB, WDJ
