The Negros Occidental chapter of the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. (PAMET), in coordination with Project CARES (Community Activities Reaching to Everyone through Services), observed Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims Day last weekend at the Capitol Park and Lagoon in Bacolod City.
Among the activities of the day included a ceremony at the Road Safety Tree Memorial and Park, which comprised of a candle-lighting, inter-faith prayer, and a moment of silence; a mini-exhibit on display at Robinsons Place Bacolod, with a memorial registry desk and another candle-lighting; and the launch of Blood 4+ Life, a blood donation and pledge registry program.
In addition, free blood-pressure and blood sugar monitoring was also provided.
Meanwhile, a ceremony was held at Andres Bonifacio Elementary School II in memory of Deanne Paolo, a Grade 8 student who was killed in a car accident last year.
The global observance is dedicated to the memory of the millions who have been killed or injured in road accidents. It also pays tribute to emergency crews, police, and medical professionals who tend to those affected by such an incident./WDJ
