A public market should be the cleanest place on Earth

Despite it being a food haven, many claim the dirtiest place to visit is the public market. How did they become so dirty?
The beloved sparerib is sliced on an unsanitary cutting board that many not have been cleaned for weeks or months, the fish look disgusting with flies hovering over them, and the floors are typically some of the dirtiest ever seen. Yet, we eat these goods that are handled by unhygienic and irresponsible vendors.
Why do leaders neglect public markets? Do they not think it important to rehabilitate these establishments? Why can’t they think of providing their constituents with clean and decent service? Nobody in elected office cares about cleaning up the public markets.
In my own experience, the markets I have visited in Marikina City and Dumaguete City are clean (there may be more, but you probably won’t need to use all of your fingers to count them all).

There will soon be a campaign launched called Clean Toilet Pilipinas, and it will start in Bacolod City.
Visit Manokan Country and the toilets there; or visit a carinderia, owners there never care about the state of their toilets.

The City of Smiles has received noteworthy awards, something residents should be proud of. However, along with the recognition, there is a need to maintain the worthiness of such distinctions.
Illegal squatters have spread along Lacson Street South, Alijis Road, Gatuslao Street Extension, Hilado Extension, the streets within the Capitol Shopping area, among others and the city needs to address the matter. The removal of these individuals may disgust a few, but there are multitudes more who would appreciate the effort.
Vehicle density in the city has grown tremendously, with more than 80,000 registered with the local Land Transportation Office. The presence of traffic enforcers can be considered either a good or bad thing by motorists, but having traffic enforcers is a positive – but they need to be professional and well-trained.
