After earlier reporting a 55 percent drop in crime from November 3 to 9, compared to the same time frame last year, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) recorded 39 criminal incidents between November 10 and 16, a drop from 98 incidents recorded between November 11 and 17 in the previous year, constituting a decline of just over 60 percent.
ICPO has reported a consistent drop in crime over the past several weeks.
“Aside from our city director and regional director, Mayor Jose Espinosa III is also monitoring the weekly crime incidents,” said ICPO operations chief, Police Superintendent Jowel Saliba. “This helps us to further strengthen our peace and order situation because we identify which areas need improvement every week.”
In prior reports, the police department credited 12-hour duty shifts for officers, “maximum” police deployment and police visibility during special occasions, strict enforcement of the evening curfew for minors, weekly assessments of city police station commanders, among other reasons./PLL, WDJ
