Following their 5-1 win over Ilocos United FC earlier this week, pulling them within one point of Philippines Football League (PFL) leaders FC Meralco Manila, Ceres-Negros FC coach Risto Vidaković said during the post-match press conference, “If you think about it, we are playing for nothing.”

“We are just here to finish the 28 games,” he added. “The most important thing is, at the end of the day, we don’t pick up more injuries.”

The Negrense club is preparing to face the Manila-based club in their second-to-last league match of the season on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona, Cavite.

A Ceres victory would put the club atop the PFL table, earning qualification into either the AFC Champions League Preliminary Round or the AFC Cup Group Stage.

The club plays their final PFL match of the season next week, November 28, when they face Global Cebu FC at the Cebu City Sports Complex./JSG, WDJ
