The Department of Health-Region VI (DOH-6) yesterday reported there are two human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cases reported in the Western Visayas every day, based on their most recent data.
DOH-6 noted, a majority of those diagnosed are between the ages of 25 and 34.
Records also showed 1,904 people have been diagnosed as HIV-positive since June of this year, with 64 males and one female testing positive in one month alone.
Earlier, the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) HIV and AIDS Core Team (HACT) reported around 580 HIV-positive individuals have been recorded in Negros Occidental between January and October of this year.
Negros Occidental has the second-highest number of cases in Region 6, with Iloilo City recording 700 HIV-related cases./DGB, WDJ
