Following last week’s announcement by the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) reporting a 33¢ in their residential rate for November 2017, the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Noceco) is also reporting a reduction in their November rate.
According to a release by the utility co-op, their residential rate for this month came to around P9.8384 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), a drop from their previous month’s rate of P9.9234/kWh.
They credited the change to reductions in their generational and system loss charges, however, those drops were countered by increases in transmission and subsidy rates.
For Ceneco, the co-op earlier revealed they would provide refunds to consumer-members for the deferred 22¢ per kilowatt-hour (kWh) charge, previously mandated by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) following a petition brought forward by the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM) Corporation.
The said deferment is scheduled to expire in January 2018.
In addition, the 8¢/kWh charge, originating from another ERC decision allowing Ceneco to collect from consumer-members, was temporarily put on hold last month by Ceneco President Roy Cordova./PLL, WDJ
