The Iloilo City Council for the Protection of Children (ICCPC) conducted a forum on child protection, aimed at media professionals, at the City Hall penthouse last week, as part of Children’s Month.
Among the topics discussed were guidelines on child protection for media practitioners and protocol in the implementation of curfew on minors ordinance.
“The media has the duty to report the details of the news and, at the same time, not disregarding the proper way on how this news will be presented to the public without violating the law which protects our children,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III.
Present at the event were representatives from Aksyon Radyo Iloilo, Bombo Radyo Iloilo, RMN Iloilo, Panay News, The Daily Guardian, ABS-CBN, the Philippine News Agency, Radyo Pilipinas, the Public Information Office, the Iloilo City Police Office, the City Social Welfare and Development Office, among others./WDJ
