The Diocese of Bacolod revealed they will be launching Red Wednesday next week, November 22, in opposition to religious persecution and to show support for the persecuted Christians all over the world.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., a procession, mass, and lighting of the San Sebastian Cathedral in red candles will take place.

“In the Philippines, we are free to express our religion but Christians, whether Catholics, protestants or Orthodox, are being murdered for their faith in many parts of the world,” Rev. Fr. Chris Gonzales said in a release. “They are oppressed and persecuted and do not have the freedom to openly practice their faith.”

The Red Wednesday campaign was pushed by Aid to the Church in Need, a papal charity committed to assisting persecuted Christians around the world./WDJ
