The Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias (CSAV) defeated the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) last night, 82-64, to win the 2017 Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) men’s basketball title at the STI-West Negros University gym.

The newly-minted champions won the finals series 2-1.

CSAV closed the first period with a slim 25-21 lead.

During the second period, UNO-R managed to get it to a two-point game, narrowing the gap to 27-25; however, the eventual champions pulled ahead to a 48-35 lead going into halftime.

In the second half, CSAV managed to build an insurmountable 20-plus point lead.

The win is the first NOPSSCEA men’s basketball championship for the Victorias City-based school./JSG, WDJ
