The mayors of third congressional district local government units Talisay City, Silay City, and Victorias City recently signed an agreement that would have teacher-fellows trained by Teach for the Philippines (TFP), a non-profit organization that works to expanding education across the country, working in local public schools.
The mayors took part in the signing alongside Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez and TFP Vice Chair Margarita Delgado.
“We are helping to upgrade the education system in the countryside,” the congressman said. “If we have good teachers, we will also have good students.”
Also present at the signing were Department of Education (DepEd) Assistant Schools Division Superintendent for Negros Occidental Gladys Amylines Sales and Silay Schools Division Administrative Officer Jowel Alimon./WDJ
