Following the recent turnover of several firearms and explosives to Calatrava municipal police, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) yesterday reported three loose firearms were surrendered to their office over the weekend.
BCPO spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, said two barangay tanods from Barangays Alangilan and Granada recently visited Police Station 5 (PS5) and surrendered two improvised shotguns and one homemade .38 caliber revolver.
The turnover was conducted before PS5 commander, Police Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, late Sunday evening.
Vargas has also urged city residents to follow suit by surrendering unregistered firearms to the nearest police station.
The initiative is part of the BCPO “Kontra Boga” campaign, which seeks to rid the streets of loose firearms.
Earlier, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, said residents from Calatrava Barangays Cambayobo, Marcelo, and Minapasok turned over several units of firearms and explosives, including an improvised shotgun, a rifle grenade, and a fragmentation grenade./DGB, WDJ
