A suspect who was arrested by police in Cadiz City incurred several injuries after jumping from a police vehicle last Thursday.

Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, said last Thursday afternoon, Cadiz City police arrested 59-year-old Julio Olvido, a resident of Hacienda San Jose II, Barangay Luna in the said city, who was wanted on rape charges.

After initially resisting arrest, the suspect was handcuffed.

While in transit, Olvido reportedly kicked a nearby police officer, identified as Senior Police Office 1 (SPO1) Dearlie Bilbar, and jumped from the police vehicle in Barangay Daga, but fell onto a cement road where he sustained several injuries.

The suspect was brought to the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic for treatment./DGB, WDJ
