Requested allocation doubled since August public hearing

The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed during its regular session earlier this week an ordinance where “safety whistles” would be distributed to children with disabilities.
During a public forum on the matter back in August, ordinance author, City Councilor Em Ang, called whistles “a useful tool for children with disabilities.”
The ordinance will provide safety whistles for students with disabilities, which will be attached to their school identification. It also deems the first week of December as “Whistle for Protection Week.”
The policy also creates a Whistle For Protection Committee.
A total of P200,000 will be appropriated for the ordinance, with the same amount allocated every year from the annual budget. However, back in August, during the said forum, the proposal claimed P100,000 would be required for implementation./PLL, WDJ
