According to the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP), which passed an ordinance establishing a persons with disabilities (PWD) employment desk during its regular session earlier this week, an annual P300,000 budget is required to implement the said legislation.
The ordinance, authored by City Councilor Em Ang, said a PWD employment desk is required in order to “provide equal career opportunities and promote economic growth and advancement for persons with disabilities.”
Duties of the employment desk include coordinating with companies to compile eligible employment opportunities, update skills for applicants, organize job fairs for PWDs, among other functions.
It also requires the appointment of a PWD employment desk officer, who will be paid an equivalent salary to a job order employee.
The desk will be set up at the Bacolod City Public Employment Services Office (PESO)./PLL, WDJ
