The Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) special election for District 5, which is comprised of Bacolod City-West, including Barangays 8 to 16, 21, 34 to 39, and Singcang-Airport, was declared a failure over the weekend by the District Election Committee.

According to a resolution passed by the body, there were no qualified candidates for board of director.

Back in March, the same situation arose when no candidates stepped forward for the position.

At the same time, in District 4, covering Bacolod City-East, which includes Barangays Villamonte, Montevista, Alangilan, Granada, Estefania, Vista Alegre, Mansilingan, and Abkasa, former Ceneco Board of Director Roy Cordova and General Alliance of Workers Association (GAWA) Secretary-General Wennie Sancho were both disqualified from the race.

A special election later that month saw Cordova declared the winner./PLL, WDJ
