The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reopened voter registration in preparation for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, which were moved from October 23, 2017 to May 14, 2018.
Comelec-Negros Occidental election supervisor, Atty. Jessie Suarez, said 156 people have registered at various Comelec offices throughout the province since reopening last Monday.
Suarez noted they are expecting a low turnout as many have taken advantage of the satellite registrations that have been set up across Negros Occidental, especially in shopping malls.
He stated the public has until November 30 to register and Comelec offices are open from Monday to Saturday.
Suarez added Negros Occidental currently has a total of 1.7 million voters./DGB, WDJ
