Waiting for the flyover

Driving home, noticed the flyover along Araneta Street was near completion – it will probably be done by the end of the year. Following construction, what we are waiting for is the process in which local traffic authorities design a traffic system for the area.
It remains to be seen whether the flyover will provide solutions.
Traffic enforcers are all over the place but how many are doing their job well? How many even care? When I supported City Councilor Dindo Ramos many years back, I was impressed with his efforts, but he needs good men around him to ensure road systems are well-designed.
I’ve given up – some think they know it all. Give it to the brighter ones. Good Luck!

I recently enjoyed a four-night stay at the Radisson Blue Hotel and Bai Hotel in Cebu City.
Many thanks to my hosts Ben Yapjoco, who previously served as district governor for the Lions Clubs International District 301; and Naida Yapjoco of the Buncio clan of Negros Occidental.
While in Cebu, had the opportunity to visit the 10,000 Roses in Lapu-Lapu City, located next to the Lantaw Resto of Bunny Pages.
Bai Hotel General Manager Alfred Reyes offered a memorable stay in the hotel owned by the Lua clan, known for Nature’s Spring Water and the Ocean Jet Ferry.
The hotel also has a pool on the 21st floor.
Also visited the Basilica del Santo Niño; tasted ice cream from the Bohol Bee Farm; and stopped by Sans Rival Cakes & Pastries, located inside the Robinsons Galleria.

They say heavy traffic exists in Cebu City, however, it is Mandaue City that needs improvement. As mentioned in a column back in July, within Cebu City, there are seldom traffic enforcers along the road. If local authorities do what Cebu City has been doing for nearly three decades, then that is it.

Was glad to see the escalators at Bacolod-Silay Airport functioning. Mactan-Cebu International Airport, now, privately owned by an Indian group, is doing well. Bacolod-Silay and Iloilo are the next targets for privatization; the government does not deserve to operate airport services.
