A motorist was brought to the hospital last Wednesday after being stabbed by a drunk tricycle driver at the Celine Homes Subdivision, Barangay Estefania in Bacolod City.
Police identified the victim as 33-year-old Otche Macapas, a resident of Block 92, Lot 5 of the said subdivision.
Police Station 4 (PS4) lead investigator, Police Officer 3 (PO3) Jared Esquilla, said the victim, along with his wife, were heading east in their car when the suspect, identified as Eliberto Helle, rammed them with his tricycle.
Helle, who was reported to be drunk, confronted the victim, blaming them for the collision.
The confrontation escalated when Helle allegedly pulled out a knife from his sling bag and stabbed Macapas in the back.
The victim was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, while PS4 was notified of the incident.
Esquilla said they tried to apprehend the suspect after tracking down his residence in Barangay Estefania, however, he managed to elude capture.
He added, they recovered the suspect’s tricycle, which was parked in front of a chapel at Purok Sagrado Dos in the said barangay./DGB, WDJ
