The Bacolod City General Services Office (GSO) yesterday recommended the closure of the Burgos Public Cemetery, citing overcrowding.
GSO head Jerome Solinap suggested remains that have been buried for five years be exhumed and relocated to a smaller area of the cemetery in order to clear parts of the area.
Earlier, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, said one of the issues encountered during the recent All Souls’ Day observance was visitors having trouble locating the tombs of their loved ones.
She also pointed out, 17 individuals sought medical attention while visiting the Burgos Public Cemetery./DGB, WDJ
