Group President offers advice on refusing passengers

Newly-organized advocacy group Taxi Operators of Negros Occ., Inc. (TONO) is seeking protections for taxi drivers.

TONO President Mario Eusebio wants more police visibility, in order to reduce the number of hold-up incidents experienced by taxi drivers.

He suggested drivers refuse “suspicious-looking” passengers and those who appear to be under the influence of alcohol.

Eusebio also noted, in cases where drivers refuse passengers, if the said passenger is persistent, the driver should inform their company of the trip and check-in at the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, he also said the group is seeking a “stronger front” against colorum, or unlicensed, taxis./WDJ
