The town engineer for EB Magalona, Negros Occidental was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after accidentally shooting himself last Tuesday afternoon.

Police identified the fatality as 62-year-old Ramon Jimenez, Jr., a resident of Barangay 2 in the said town.

Reports released by EB Magalona municipal police said Jimenez was at the water work field office when he accidentally pulled the trigger of his caliber .22 revolver, striking his left foot.

Jimenez was rushed to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, however, he was declared dead on arrival due to massive blood loss.

Following the incident, EB Magalona municipal police chief, Police Senior Inspector Anthony Burgos, said Jimenez’ family requested not to proceed with the paraffin test as they agreed with police findings that said the incident was accidental in nature.

Burgos added, they recovered Jimenez’ firearm and ruled out any foul play./DGB, WDJ
